What is optimal engine oil temperature?

I've been told by quite a few manufacturers that once you get to around 230F that you are in the red zone. We'll see what everyone else has to say.

Just picked up a B & M oil cooler w/ a fan on it and the thermo switch works as follows:

On at 176F
Off at 140F
