What's behind the clutch MC snap ring? pix inside
Ever wondered what's inside stuff? Ever since I was a kid, I always took stuff apart to see what made something work. I was grounded by my folks when I wanted to see what made the family cat work.
But i digress. After removing my clutch MC for replacement, I thought I would clean it and take that snap ring off and see what was behind it. My 2000 civic MC has been leak and trouble free for 17 years- why do our s2000 CMC do this? I don't know, but I thought I would be able to find out. Heck, i can't even figure out how they get that piston in there without it coming out again- there are no machine marks to indicate the manufacturing process. Here are 2 photos to satisfy your curiosity and mine.
If only the internal piston could be removed and serviced. The gold central rod is easily removed with snap ring pliers- it seems easy to relube but that's not going to fix the leaky internal piston.
oh, yeah. the cat survived just fine.
