Wheel swapping
this is just a personal preference, but I dont like to be torquing in the upper capabilities of a torque wrench - id much rather torque at 80ftlbs with a 120ftlbs wrench than 80 on a 90 - more for accuracy than anything else, but again thats just me
Well this is going to sound funny and hopefully i dont get flamed for this one. However, our stock lug nut wrench is roughly a foot give or take. I am 120 pounds and the torque rating is 80, so I essentially stand on the wrench, this way I am insured ample torque without going over board. Alternatively a scale can be used. If you have a foot long wrench stand on the scale and pull till you take 80 pounds give or take off the scale...
The right tool is everything though. It is up to you how certain you are with correctly torqueing your nuts.
On a side note, never trust your air gun for torqueing lug nuts. My friend lost his job when his gun broke, didnt think anything of it, took the customers car out for a test drive and lost a wheel ...
