Default When to change clutch?

Do you guys change your clutch based on feel or by miles? I have a 01 S2000 which has 45k miles but the (original) clutch doesn't catch until very high (unlike my friend's s2k) and I have a 91 mr2 with 150k miles on its original clutch (previous owner was a girl for 9 years who babied the car), but it catches immediately. I'm thinking of bringing one of teh cars to Infineon at the end of the month and I don't want the clutch to fail on me.

i replace the clutch when it wont hold any more. say your in third gear and floor it and the revs jump up but the car doesnt move any faster, well, time to replace that bad boy. it will ussually rear its ugly broken head first on hard upshifts, but eventually regular driving becomes impossible. good luck

How much can change from hard track driving? That hasnt' happened to the MR2 yet from regular driving, but I'm afraid that since the original clutch has like 150k miles it might burn due to age and i'll be stuck!
