So i have a 2001 ap1, I know everyones gonna bash me for this but i found out the hard way to never skip shift in high rev... that being said i lost 5th gear going from 1st @ 9k rpm to 5th. Dumb i know but i learned the hard way.

Anyway so a couple weeks after that occurance im driving down the road and i turn into a drive way while being in neutral i think and i hear this loud noise like a spring that was compressed got released. so then im rolling in neutral and its making a whirring noise. Most noticiable when rolling low speed in neutral. I think it might have to be my tranny since i already ruined the 5th gear syncro. But i was wondering if anyone could help me out. Any comments are appreciated.

 

I think its safe to say you need another tranny, regardless.
