Default Whiteline X-brace Install Problems

I tried to install my Whiteline X-brace last night, but I ran into a problem. The holes on the x-brace don't line up 100% with the holes on the frame of the car. I could only get 3 out of the 4 bolts in. Every time I would take out a bolt to get the last bolt in, the other bolt now won't line up. It's a give and take thing. It's about 1-2mm off so I guess I can just drill the hole and make it bigger, but that's gonna be a pain.

If you've encountered the same issue or if anyone has any suggestions or work around, please let me know.

Thanks,
Jeff

before you drill, are you screwing in the bolts all the way before trying to put them in?? if so that's your problem. screw in only one or two threads of the bolt before going to the next one. suspension mods are usually like this. hope that helps.

No, I don't screw them in all the way.. even as I loosen some to make some wiggle room for the others, nothing works. I guess I can try again tomorrow.

It also depends on how you jack up your car. If you're jacking from one side only, the torsion is enough to misalign the holes. If you drill the hole larger, you're losing that bit of bracing function.

Put the car on jack stands, or at the very least jack the two fronts equally.

i tried jacking up on all 4 stands. i tried left side only. i tried right side only. i tried front only. i tried screwing in bolts every way possible.

maybe a lift would work best?

for my car, there was no way 4 bolts were going in properly without drilling the brace 1.5mm.

I am curious about getting one of these down the road. I remember with the RSX there was a trick with jacking up the middle of the X-Brace to push out the corners so the holes lined up.

Had this issue too. the last hole was a PITA to get in. I left all the bolts loose and just pushed and pulled to get everything in. Did it without having to elongate the hole.

Interesting. Am waiting for mine to be delivered at any moment today or maybe next week. I would suggest to keep loose all bolts and line up the brace before tight them up. Am curious to see mine now.
