Why are these TCTs so cheap? Anyone tried these?

Heres one for $20
And another for $40
Is installing it just asking for trouble? The $40 one looks like it has 1 year warranty.
Or get an oem for around $150 or ballade sports for $275... or rebuild the one I have?

Those units are the ones Rock auto sells. The internals are not hardened, and will produce a lifetime of metal shavings and introduce them into the engine.

I did a pre-emptive strike on my 09 with about 40K miles on it (no symptoms) after emailing Billman and discussing the likelihood of problems in the future.
So glad I did. No issues and I am worry free going forward. Now at 65K miles.
Worth every dollar.

I have seen posts with unhappy customers of a variety of TCTs, including Ballade Sports. I have yet to see a single negative post about Billman’s TCT.

It's been 10 months since I've had Billman's TCT and I am a changed person.
