Sorry to revive an old post. Did any of you resolve your start up issues? I believe my car is exhibiting the same issue.

So the car acts this way every time I let it sit for more than a few hours. If I have the engine running, stop it and immediately restart it fires right up. In order to get it to start I have to push down on the shifter pretty hard almost like jamming it until it hits the transmission tunnel. It fires right up after this. Is there a faulty switch either associated with the shifter or on the tranny that could cause this startup issue? Could it be that when I jam on the shifter I loosens up the starter solenoid and allows the car to start?

Funny guy, thats like the first page of any electronic troubleshooting guide.
1. Is it plugged in
2. Is it turned on

Try adjusting the clutch pedal see if it is engaging to low. There is an adjustment behind the pedal. Its an easy fix to try first.

First thing i'd do would be to pop the clutch.

I ran into this problem today at WGI. I started up in the AM, Got fuel and drove to the track. After i unloaded the car and went Tech, I pushed start and only heard a click. After frantically trying to diagnose the issue to no avail, I found this post and it worked. I held the start button, Gave the gear lever a good whack, and the car fired right up. This post not only saved my track day, it probably saved me $$$ in towing charges.

Did you ever find out what was causing this, I still have to do it to start the car. I have no clue what it could be.

Thanks

Tom
