So my driver side window regulator / motor is broken - it no longer rolls up. From peeking inside after removing the door panel, it looks like the cable snapped off and is now a big tangled mess inside the motor.

I wanted to see what you all think about getting it replaced with a used part. I've seen several on ebay for significantly less than a new one, but would the savings on the part be worth it? Would a used one be more likely to break again? Should I just go with a new one?

Oh, and is there a difference between AP1 and AP2 window regulators?

I found this great write-up on how to replace it, but if anyone else has any thoughts or experience doing this yourself (complexity, other one-offs to watch out for, etc.), please chime in. I haven't done much DIY stuff, but this seems like a fun fix it project. Thanks!
