Default Window Problems

I started hearing popping noises from my passenger door speaker and realize it was happening whenever I used the window switch. I removed the door panel and speaker to find that they car had components wired up like shit and bare wires touching the window guide. It was causing feed back in the speaker. I re-wired the speaker and made sure the bare wires were covered, now the window doesn't work. I'm not really sure where to start looking. I looked at fuses in the driver footwell and no issues. I just hate to take it somewhere and pay $300 if it's a simple fix. My top won't go down either since the window won't activate. Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks

Sean

Yeah it doesn't work either way. Is there any way that switch could be messed up?

Sean,

This part doesn't make too much sense to me.
My top won't go down either since the window won't activate.
and here's why. A while back my passenger side window cable snapped and I had to buy the entire assembly. While installing it, I needed to put my top up to properly align the window. I am almost 100% that I did this with the window power cord unplugged. I "could" be wrong because of how much of a pain in the ass it was and it may have made my memory a big foggy.

If you checked the fuse and the motor worked beforehand, try rechecking the window wires and make sure you didn't cross them. If it worked before you "re-wired" it; that could have been what happened.

Does the speaker work?

I seem to remember those connectors looking similar. I'd take my panel off and look myself but I might rage on it again and need to buy a new door.

Keep us posted either way. Good Luck.

It would make sense if the soft top module was the issue. Though that doesn't really mean that the soft top won't do down because the window won't go down. Problems with the soft top module can keep the passenger window from working.

Under the passengers kick panel (storage tray for AP2) This is what it should look like.

Thanks a lot guys I will try this later. I'm really hoping this is all the problem is. I hate not being able to roll both windows down!
