Default Wont Start after Gauge Install.

buddies s2k wont start after installing a new set of pillar gauges. im guessing we shorted a wire. what do you guys think?

its got power just wont start.


its all stock and we were intalling a new a/f gauge. also a new oil pressure but didn't make it that far....

More info:

How does it not start? crank/no crank/ hesitates/doesnt catch at all/no power/what.

also, what did you guys mess around with while you guys were installing the gauges?

Either you need to unscrew it or it's completely unrelated. Time to undo whatever was installed 1st.

he had gauges in previously, same ones, air/fuel and oil pressure...the original gauges worked fine.

the next gauge (autometer) never read the air/fuel but still powered up. when we went to start the car, everything worked and the starter worked, it just wouldn't fire.

A wire definitley shorted we just dont know what blew when the wire shorted, but the wire that shorted was attached to the ecu, is it possible to damage the ecu if you short out a wire that is directly connected to it

And yes, if you short something thats directly connected to the ECU, its the same as shorting out the ECU which can and will break.

whats with the english speak it? i was just trying to let you know we definitely shorted out a wire that was connected directly to the ecu. anyways so does this mean i need a new ecu?

Unfortunatly I believe you do. I don't know about the S2k specifically but I know on other cars the ECU is real easy to blow by shorting a wire attached to it. I am not sure what the english comment was about, I thought it read just fine
