That was a good game last night. I've never seen that many hats thrown before! Ovechkin did it all including great acting.

The one thing that really annoyed me was lighted signs on the boards. They may have that in other arenas but I don't recall it. I found them very distracting last night.

Go Wings.

I wonder if you can go after the game and retrieve your hat?

I don't know, the Wings, as great as they are, have not had a single hat trick all year. But with a balanced team you don't need them.

I could not believe the Ref's call last night. The Wings tied the game with a minute to go and the Ref didn't see it! It was clear in real time, it was clear in slow replay, and it was clear to everyone on the ice except for the guy wearing stripes. Not good for the Wings. Not good for the NHL.

It's not as if it's unusual for pucks to get blown dead when they are still bouncing around hidden from the ref's vantage point. It seems to happen at least once in most games. This time it just happened to involve a scoring chance with minutes to play.

Even if that hadn't happened, the Ducks still didn't deserve that win. They stunk for the second half of the game. The analyst for the local broadcaster was honest enough to say in his post game wrap up that if the Ducks continue to play like that then Detroit will win the series. Eventually a Red Wing will be in the right place to get one of those many rebounds.

I think you are being too hard on the Ducks. Overall, they were the better team last night. They controlled the first two periods. They shut down the center ice almost completely for the first half of the game. They are big, fast, and playing smart. The Wings finally started to get their legs in the third period and there was times when they finally played like they can.

As for the Ref, I understand how and why it happened but I would like to see NHL adopt instant replay over-ride when there is a missed call in the final, say 3 minutes, of a game when so much is riding on a win-loss due to a bad call at a critical time. To me that makes sense no matter what team scores.

The inconsistency of the ref

I've heard this suggestion mentionned on the radio several times today. Oh, NHL should have instant replay just like the NFL. The only problem with that, it that it wouldn't have changed the outcome in this case. The play was whistled dead, that's not something that is challengable or overturnable on replay in any sport to my knowledge. Once the whistle blows, the players are suppose to stop play. The refs blow the whistle to protect the goal tender (in this case). So, I don't think there's any way to prevent a mistake like this.

I was sorry about the result of the game last night...but, hopefully the puck will drop our way in game 4.

Go Wings!!!!

Did he actually blow the whistle? According to Redman during the game he did not... only that he ment to. I haven't followed up on what's being said today.

Good Pens-Caps game tonight. 2-2 and going into OT. Malkin vs Caps goalie. It's a two man show.
