Did he actually blow the whistle? According to Redman during the game he did not... only that he ment to. I haven't followed up on what's being said today.
Yes, he did blow the whistle. The replay on our local coverage made it appear that the puck was tapped in just as the whistle blew. Which means that the decision to blow the whistle happened some time before that.

I'm also of a mind that this is something that won't be fixed. There's no way for the ref to tell the difference between a puck that is loose but out of his view, and a puck that is covered and out of his view. He has to blow the whistle for both or neither. Replay may be able to tell you that he was wrong to blow the whistle, but it would be wrong to reward a team that keeps trying to dislodge the puck after the whistle has blown.

Another exciting Caps/Pens game! Varlamov had another amazing performance, but it wasn't quite enough. Lost 3-2 in overtime. The Pens were relentless last night. So now its Caps 2-1 going into Fri night. Whew...

It appears your local newscast put a little slant on the story. Take a couple seconds and watch this.

Nice comeback by the Hawks, I really thought they were done with 2 min's to go.

I got sucked into a long call from work during the second intermission. Looks like I didn't miss much. I would have been pissed if I had missed a comeback.

Caps lost in a heartbreaker - 4-3 in overtime (again!). So the Pens are up 3-2. Now it's back to Pittsburgh. I'm afraid it may be over for the Caps, but you never know. I'll be watching tonight, but not sure the +1 will.
