Default 2016 Miata

Mazda (unlike a certain other manufacturer we all know) seems to be doubling down on small, lightweight, two seater roadsters by adding less weight and great looks to the iconic Miata. Good for them. I'm very interested. I can't wait to see the engine choice...

Adding one reporter's thoughts on the car:

The front looks pretty good but I'm not fond of the rear end. Not bad.

The back end looked a little like the BMW Z4 to me. The writer said it looks like the Jaguar F-type. I'd need to see it in person, but I am not offended by the photos.

I like the way it looks. Before the S I had a 1995 Merlot "M" with the hardtop. It was a great little car, but the S is definitely more substantial and much more powerful.

I've been eyeballing the Boxster GTS for months now but still can't justify the price. If the offer the new Miata w/300hp I may pull the trigger but somehow I don't see that happening

At 2200 pounds, I don't think it will need 300 hp. 250 hp and 200 ft. lbs. would probably feel very much like that Porsche. But I'd be happy with less than that. Say 220 and 175???

Very nice in the front and much needed and improved interior. Rear end ok but I hate the tail lights. Looks like something Miata stuck on. Of course I didn't like the vette's tail lights but they grew on me. I hope they give it more power or Kia's and Hyundai's will kick butt.
