Well I'm offended .

Buy me a drink and all is forgotten .

Not to get heavy or anything, but my father was an alcoholic and it indirectly killed him when I was 12. And I have no problem finding humor in stuff like this. Sometimes the laughter keeps you from going mad.

Not that I didn't end up there anyways .
Phil,

I'll buy you what I'm drinking. Two Diet Cokes please!

On a serious note. It must have been hard to lose a Dad at that age. I know a few recovering alcoholics. When they talk about their drinking days, their honesty is amazing.

Diet Coke is my beverage of choice, actually. I drink at least a 6 pack a day on average. I'm sure it's nothing but good for me .

My dad never got to the moment of clarity point in his life, unfortunately. But he was well aware of what was going on. He was just powerless against it. It was tough at 12, but it's a part of what I am today. Whatever doesn't kill you makes you stronger.

Ok, enough downer material...on with the funny stuff .

Granny, where the heck have ya been?

If it includes time on a quiet beach, I don't really want to hear it.

It was only 34 degrees here this AM.

Sorry Lainey, it DID include a lot of quiet time on a quiet (warm) beach. I'll never be the same after that one. It was so good, I didn't even flinch at paying $5.17/gal for gas or $5.00 for a six pack of diet Coke.

I'm moving to the islands where I do believe I belong. I'll try to buy a guest house so y'all can come visit. There were only two traffic lights on the entire island and I think I counted 25 cars on the heaviest traffic day. Yep, I'm moving! Sorry!
Which island, Granny?

By the way, you got a deal on the Diet Coke. If I remember correctly a six pack of Diet Coke at our Disney Hotel was $7.20! It seems as if your island is more affordable! I'm in!

Hey there, lil bro. Funny, I was sitting there all day watching the birds diving for fish and remembered the banter you and Patty had about city versus country living and I started thinking about the members who would and would not be able to take my island for long. You were the first one I thought of who would probably die after the first two days of nothing to do; no TV, no computer, very little radio, very, very slow pace (30 minutes to get a sandwich at their version of a fast food place). No fast food chains.

Patty, on the other hand would probably love it. Val would probably stir things up and tear up my island loving every minute of it. Perk and the Don would probably find the live chicken under their table at the restaurant very funny. Rooster would try to catch and cook it! I ran though the whole roster of our hard core gang. Funny how I think of you guys even when my brain is cut off.
