Another blood pressure drug recall

...............It is good to know that Valsartan is ok again. I took Diovan when Lisinopril didn't work, that was back in '03. At some point they started calling it Valsartan but as far as know it was the same thing. Since I took it 15 yrs with no ill effects I am going to ask my doctor to put me back on it.....
As for the availability of of Valsartan the Dr. told my wife that it was never entirely taken off the market by the recall but the drug store told me that it had just become available again [They didn't have any and had to order it in].

I'm no expert on this subject but as I understand it Diovan [which my wife took initially many years ago] is still available under that name but her insurance won't pay for it but will pay for Valsartan

So, some insurance companies might pay for only the generic and not the brand name.
