Default Any "car nut" should appreciate it - Cobra Replica

It's been a long time since I posted here, but I just finished a documentary short about a Shelby Cobra replica restoration. Bob the owner has had a lifelong love of cars, in many ways, he's just like us! (watch in full screen HiDef on the youtube vs. the embed version)

a company called superformance in my home town (suburb of New Orleans) used to make cobra replicas. I'm not sure if they re-opened after Katrina but I always used to see them test driving those things all around. Those cars are super nice!

The interesting thing is that the origins of this particular car are somewhat in question. I wonder if this was a prototype and the original creators morphed into Factory Five or SuperPerformance. Wouldn't it be funny if he has one of their early efforts?

Sorry but can't get past user #8. The single digit guys (and gals) blow my mind.

Good post as well, love Cobra replicas.

Aloha Colin,

In your typical fashion that video was very well done.

Mahalo for your post.

I wonder out loud how many Cobra kit cars live on Oahu?

On a similar but different note we sometimes eat breakfast on the weekends at a local dive called the Vienna Inn that is not far from our house. The local Cobra club meets there on Saturday mornings once a month. All of them are replicas.

I had the experience of riding in a real AC Shelby Cobra 427 Stage 2 (435 HP if I remember correctly) owned by my former employer back in the summer of 1979. It was awesome.

Aloha,
Matt

LOL, yes, I got my first S2000 in September 1999 and in the end, there were 4 between the two of us. Thanks for the comments on my video.

Hey Matt, Thanks for the comment. As for Cobras (and/or replicas) I'd go in a limb and suggest they outnumber NSXs on Oahu. I'd guess that someone in the local ford club would know the answer. (reminds me, I need to send them a link to the video....)

Very professionally done video Colin ............. each one seems to get better. At our MGA gymkhana (autox to you kids) this spring we had a ringer show up (he gave us permission to use his company lot) and he had a Cobra replica. Turns out he was a heck of a driver and he kicked all our butts even on a very long and very tight course! Sure, he had the torque of probably 10 of our cars combined but how he kept it between the cones was awesome.
