Lets see, turn and bank (lower left) the "plane" is usually level, or not too far off, same for the attitude indicator (upper middle). Airspeed indicator @ cruise speed is going to be pointing roughly "down", Directional gyro by definition is pointing "up" Verticle speed indicator is pointing "left" (9:00) in straight and level flight, and the VOR dials (righthand side of the cluster, upper two- are normally pointing straight up and down when tracking a radial.

I've been flying the Microsoft 182 since November, 1982.
However, I found this photo on a google search.
