Audi experience
I'm a first time Audi buyer (used '06 A6) and I must say I am really impressed so far with their customer service both at the dealership and the company overall. We all know first impressions are important.
I received nice welcome letters from both the company and Audi club. I recieved some slick marketing magazines. The first with all kinds of Audi apparel and the second their regular Audi magazine, just a couple pages short of 100, on high quality paper ... this issue centered on their new A5.
My first dealership experience was top quality as well. In addition to my free normal maintenace like the oil change (8 qts) etc., I had a center console lighter switch that didn't work (looked like the prior owner accidentially dumped some coffee in it) and my remote keys didn't always respond as they should. New keys and new switch ordered and installed without any hassle. Plus the appointment time was to my choice. The waiting room had fresh coffee, fresh popcorn, bottled water, etc. Car was washed and vacuumed after the service. In addition to a dealer feedback card Audi has called three times to survey me and tonight I finally took the call. Not only did they ask me all the usual stuff they said I could be connected with a recorder that would record anything I wanted to say, good or bad, about the service and they assure me the person calling did not have access to it, as it went directly to the company.
The dealer had told me to expect the call and he added Audi considered anything less than 'extremely satisfied' to be a failure. I'm not sure it that's accurate or not but I had no problem giving that rating to everything they did. I'm sure you can say.... well, you paid for all this, afterall there's no free lunch. True. But I've been in many a dealership where I was treated like a second class citizen and I can assure you that I've never had a positive experience at my local Honda dealer, even when just ordering parts which is all I would ever let them do.
Just thought I'd share my experience because I spent a career in the customer service end of the business world and I'm not easily impressed.

Dave,
I'm honestly happy for you. As you pointed out this level of service is all too rare.
Out here in small town USA we don't have Jag, Audi, M-B, BMW, Infiniti, or Acura dealers. We did have an Audi one up until a few years ago but it folded due to poor sales attributed by local wags to poor reliability and poor service.
I recently had the urge to replace my "winter" car and many of these marques crossed my radar. I even quizzed some locals who owned such makes but found in every instance they drove Denver, Sioux Falls, or even Minneapolis for major service. This invariably involves overnight or longer stays too which plain sucks. The local Honda and Nissan dealers were said to be able to provide basics for their upscale cousins but that was it. And with my local Caddy dealer failing to impress, options like the CTS also fell out. I ended up deciding to stay with my '99 Subaru Forester L which, despite 103k on the clock, has a lot of service left to give. My feeling ended up that the '09 third generation Forester might be a logical choice if need be, which it isn't.
While there are advantages to not being near the "big" cities, upscale car support is definitely not one of them.

Good to hear Dave.
I had 2 Audi's from the dealer in Lansing and always was very pleased with the way they treated me and the level of service, really rare these days.
Not sure if you are going there or not, but they're excellent as well.

Dave,
I've had the same experience at Lexus, Jag and BMW. Caddy, not so much.
That said, my local Honda dealer is awesome. Free coffee, muffins, big screen TV, complimetary newspaper and work desks!!! I went in for a $29 inspection sticker and took $20 worth of food and other ammenities whil I waited.

My wife is on her third Subaru, an '08, purchased from there as well but she doesn't get that level of treatment.
