I remember car phone were really radios that you could listen to on a scanner.
I remember when voice recorders used by the telephone company used wire not tape.

I remember what a hook switch was.
I remember when the phone companies owned the phone set.
I remember when you could have any color phone you wanted as long as it was black Bakelite.
I remember when I worked for the phone company.

Mine was POplar 3-2225, or (213) 763-2225 in North Hollywood, CA. Then they came up with the (818) area code. My did lived in the house he built before I was born in 1958 until he went to assisted living in 2006 and died there in 2007. He had that phone number for over forty years.

Telephone Exchange Names

On topic, I have one smart TV, a DISH DVR and a DVD player, all new in early 2018. They work but I am not realizing their potentials. Since I hate watching TV for the most part, I've never attempted to hook up my free Amazon Prime connection. I get so frustrated sometimes I just turn it all off and read. I guess that's why I am so old school I still use Netflix for physical DVDs in the mail. I can handle that.
