Default Closing Michael Jackson Thread

I hope Vintage is not to the point that if you don't like what is being said you just close the thread. This really has nothing to do with MJ. It has a lot to do that if a thread has been started let it run it's course. The different ideas and statements that we make are what makes this site. Politics I understand in the general forum should be watched, but to just say, that's it, I don't want to hear anymore is not in good Vintage taste. IMO

Dave closed that thread himself. That was his decision.

I understand that. But if I start a topic and don't like what I read should I just close it? If you put something out there then you should respect other peoples comments.

I think I have to go with Maury on this one. Don't start a thread if you are not prepared/willing for others to disagree with you. Especially in MJ's case, there were bound to be differing opinions.

It isn't like he deleted it. The comments are still there. We all participate knowing that the thread starter can close the thread at any time. I like the fact that every person has the power to end their own threads. Sometimes conversations go in an unexpected direction that the original starter no longer wants to be associated with. Closing the thread is a statement in itself. Others are free to start a new thread, link to the closed thread, and continue the conversation.

I agree, Bill. I think it is fine for posters to express their disappointment with the closing of a thread that they were participating in. But I don't feel it would be proper in this case for me to interfere with the OP's ability to close a thread that he started.

Maury, maybe the discussion could just continue here if there is interest.

Thanks for trying zzziippyyy. His musical genius has been well documented and will continue to speak for itself. I mourn his family's loss along with the rest of the world who appreciated his unparallel talent.

I did not like all the allegations of child molestation that swirled around MJ, but I grieve his death. I LOVED his music and thought he was the most incredible (but naughty at times) dancer I've ever seen in my life. His performances were totally unparalleled and I believe he truly loved his fans and did not take them for granted. I also believe that MJ was manipulated, abused and used by not only his father, but various managers and show biz types. He had no opportunity to grow up as a normal person since his whole life was lived to fit the mold created for him by someone else. He had no childhood and of course he was a little more than strange. We are all a product of our environments and to say his environment was surreal is an understatement. Goodbye, Michael, may you now experience peace.

Listening to all the Michael Jackson music being played on the air now, makes me think of how much of his music I had just forgotten about. Let's face it, he did change a host of things in American pop culture. My 13 yr old son does a fair imitation of MJ dancing.
