Computer (E-Mail) Help Please!
It could be your router blocking the IP port used for email between client and server. (That sure sounds good and it could actually be true, even if it is a wag on my part.) The fix would be to remove power from your router, count to 10, then plug it back in.
Anybody else got any ideas along these lines?

What type of mail account do you have? (POP3, IMAP, HTTP)
Did the ISP change the address of their mail server? SMTP in/out
If you can check their site for new messages, you may be able to find the SMTP settings somewhere on their site.

oooh...the old change-the-mail-server-ip-address gambit. Yes, that could be it as well...Of course they probably would have sent out an email ahead of time. You do read all the emails you get from Comcast, right?
Mike, outgoing is working fine from all computers and all e-mail programs. The problem is on the incoming side. The Macs are giving the window that says "enter password for account "POP account", The POP server "mail.comcast.net" rejected the password for user "mhd518". Then you get either the little lightning bolt symbol or the bell symbol beside "inbox" on the actual mail program page. On the Outlook mail program, I'm now getting Microsoft's version of that in a window titled "Logon - mail.comcast.net, Please enter your user name and passwaord for the following server: mail.comcast.net.
I did unplug the router and rebooted the modem. Rebooted all computers (obviously).
I HATE COMCAST. Does anyone on here work for that POS company?

You can do what I did.......Change to Verizon FIOS.
Martha, I had those exact problems during my time with them. I believe that the server is rejecting your password to download the items. This is just a guess, I am certainly not near as well versed as many of the other folks here, but I did have that issue.
