Martha, you make me feel extravagant and waistful, cause my needs involve hauling an SUV full of teenagers to Colorado several times a year. Once I'm there I have to haul lumber, furniture, and worlds of other crap twenty miles each way. In the winter I have to have four wheel drive to get through the snow or offroad trails, and I have to tow a four ton trailer with a huge water tank to fill the cistern periodically. That all adds up to a huge ego, too, so I can't do it with one of those wonderful smaller SUVs -- I have to have something big like a Nissan Armada with a large V8 engine to do the job. I have discussed the need to crush those things with Bill and Rob earlier on. But alas I got no sympathy or support, except from Doug, Triple-H, who drives a red Nissan Titan with the same engine and size. So I did compromise and agree with Bill to restrict SUV driving to the right hand lane of traffic.

And Bill, I can't crush my computer, cause I wouldn't be able to keep tract of these Vintage negotiations. I agree, we gotta give peace a chance!
Ah! But the difference is that you ARE using it for its intended purpose, ergo neither extravagant nor waistful (sic)! <sorry I couldn't resist>.

As long as we're off topic anyway, are you at Rice or did I have another hallucination? Beautiful campus. I used to live about 1 1/2 miles from there.

Well, you'd never be able to kill them all. They reproduce too fast. And that's what I'm in favor of, faster reproduction of computers and thereby accelerated evolution. My newest one, a Fujitsu micro-laptop, is a marvel, and as they get better and better I'll eventually be able to get one implanted in my brain, bwahahahahahaha. HPH

Yes, a rock house that looks like Roy Rogers should have lived there -- corner of Buffalo & Carnegie. Think it was the favorite house I've ever had but looks like crap now -- apparently they don't believe in upkeep and they added a nasty awning thing on the front door. When I'm in town I stay with my b/f also on Buffalo and HATE driving by the old house.

Martha, I LOVE my little SUV. It is a mercury mountaineer and is just a teensy bit bigger than my husband's jeep grand cherokee. We feel as if we're driving around in HUGE semis when we're driving them, but then we line up at a traffic light or park in a parking lot beside a navigator or escalade or one of those other HUMONGOUS things and realize how small our vehicles are. I use mine for the things I said and also because it really gives my ego a place to expand when I'm sitting up there with my precious boy, Max (75 pound bulldog) intimidating the buttheads cruising along chatting on the cellphones in the semi-sized navigators, etc. BTW, I only have to re-fuel my suv about once every six weeks, so I don't feel the environment is suffering by my use of a somewhat larger vehicle than the S.
