Online billpay is a very good idea. Just make sure that you keep your records well, and that you remember to record all of those scheduled payments. Also, and I can't stress this enough, make sure that you reconcile your account every month and in a timely fashion. If there is a problem bring it to the bank or financial institution's attention immediately.

BoltonBlue,

I can only hope that my fears of housing doom are wrong.

Hey, with regard to credit, I recently had to cancel one where the company (Bank One) was cheating on my grace period. Basically, I'd get a bill 10 or 11 days after the date it was supposedly printed for. That swallowed up half my 20-day grace period, and then I got a late fee + finance charges. One pissed off Chazmo!!! See ya!

You guys have serious cajones trusting a CC company with automatic bill pay.

NOooooo, not automatic, just online.
I go in and specify each transaction explicitly for date and amount.
I only do auto bill pay for things which are fixed expenses, like the newspaper or cable bill. and they get charged through to a credit card company first.

Ah, gotcha'. Yes, that's not too risky. Sounds good.

I'm old fashioned when it comes to paying bills. I prefer to write checks. Well, let me restate that... I don't like writing checks, but I do what I have to.
