Default Dont sleep on heartburn..

started getting heartburn in January when out in the cold air. Never really had HB before.

Tums/Pepcid etc helped a little and Superman(me) kept doing his pushups etc and chores.

Too painful to jog'
.
Went to the Doctor monday for my annual physical and she suggested a Cardio Stress test.

I showed up thinking I was going to burn up the treadmill, after three minutes they stopped the test..

Anyway, it's Friday and I've got three stents and one of those pill boxes with all the little doors.

Hell of a way treat heartburn

Yikes!! That’s nothing I ever heard of before. I hope you recover quickly and completely. Those I know who have stents say they feel great now.

Wow...that must have been a real shock! Considering your problem started two months ago, I'd say you are a very fortunate guy.

Heartburn and too painful to jog? Does that sound like a clue in hindsight? I'm serious.

definitely a clue ignored by "Superman"

By assuming heartburn, I was able to come up with support from the internet for what I wanted to believe while ignoring references to heartburn and heart issues.

Because I've always kept in shape I may have an "atypical" warning system per the Cardiologist. ie I knocked off 40 good pushups with no discomfort the day before the stress test.

We tend to believe what we really want to believe.

I always been a very fortunate guy in the important aspects of my life.

Glad you got to a Doc Superman. Fit or not, heart issues can happen to anyone. Jim Fixx was a premiere runner and fitness guru and he died of a heart attack.

If one suffers from heartburn at night, do see a doctor. If it is not a heart issue, the heartburn could lead to reflux disease, which can lead to Barrett's Syndrome, which can then lead to esophageal cancer. I have seen this with two acquaintances. It too is very ugly.

I rarely do get it but the old remedy, (supported by some science) is plain old cider vinegar, mixed with water of course. Works great. Seems counter intuitive but I cannot complain with success.

That's good to know Ken, thanks. I rarely get it but my wife does. Will check with our doc when we see him in a few months.

Yup. I have Barrett's. I'll be enjoying my fifth endoscopy soon.
