Lainey I was thinking of you guys today in regards to the hurricane but as the saying goes this isn't your first rodeo so I'm sure you guys will do fine. Hopefully it will miss us.
It's been a while since we had a storm like this predicted...hoping we did all the prep stuff for nothing.

Hopefully it will miss us and just bring some cooler weather. My Dad was talking about the 38 hurricne today I think it was hurricane Carol he said it changed direction at the last minute so hopefully that won't be the case with Earl.

Based on what I just watched, we did. 7 news has the projected path about 70 to 100 miles off the coast of Nantucket.

I just got up and looked out the window. So far, only dark clouds, no more wind than we usually have at the beach and no rain. Getting coffee and taking the Jeep to the ocean to see whats going on. I thought it was supposed to hit around 2 AM? Be safe.

I mentioned we can shower when we have no power, and don't you know the water heater acted up this AM. The pilot was out, Rick got it going, but the pilot was out again this afternoon. It's going again, and I grabbed a shower, just in case it goes out again. Hoping it's all set now and that we don't have an issue.

Just what we need, trying to get a plumber to our house on Labor Day weekend after a hurricane.
We had enough water to shower, but the pilot light went out again. I spoke to the plumber this AM. Told him the problem..pilot light won't stay on. He asked what the brand of the water heater was, and when I told him he went "ohhhhh."

That "ohhhhh" translated into "they've had problems with those burners."

Not good news. He's going to see what he can do. It would be nice if they stood behind their product. The unit is not even five years old.

Thanks, Val. Overall a minor annoyance in the scheme of life. I'm just glad we got the plumber before he goes on OT weekend rates.

I have keys to my sister's house. She has very nice bathrooms if I want a bubble bath or need a shower.
