Fall checks in
Nice bit of writing, Bill. Thanks for triggering a sweet memory...the first time I EVER drove an S2000. The 2000 model had only been out for a few months and a fellow ClubSi.com member in Birmingham traded up. While in north Alabama on business I invited myself to his place for a peek, after which he invited me to take it for a spin.
My new best friend took the wheel of my Si and guided me over several wonderful traffic-free roads near his home north of Birmingham as I explored the pleasures of this wonderful new roadster. Even though I had never driven an S2000 before I had no problem staying with him as he ran point in my supercharged Civic Si, which was an excellent handler. Its 2600 lbs was motivated by about 210HP. It was being driven hard and well, but the S never even raised a sweat keeping up. Even with all that, though, it was the S2000's brakes that made the biggest impression on me!
It was fall and the oaks of North Alabama were covered with gold. As we sped over roads with wonderful curves and elevation changes and zero traffic, the fallen leaves danced in the vortex created by the wake of our Hondas just like in those commercials.
Fall has always been my favorite driving season. Can't wait for DBR.

I was just thinking about this thread again. This weekend was very hot and humid in the Northeast, but thats only temporary. Like it or don't, fall will be here soon.
Baseball is at it's best in the fall. My Mets are in contention again this year. If they don't collapse in September this could be a great year. I hope they play and crush the Dodgers in the first round of the playoffs. I know that the Dodgers are far behind, but I hope they win their division so my Mets can beat them. And I hope the Mets meet the Red Sox in the World Series. Boston is my second favorite team, after the Mets. What could be a nicer way to get ready for winter than to watch your two favorite teams battle it out. Of course I hope the Mets win, but either way, I'd be happy.
I'm ready for fall. Not that I dislike summer, but I really like the change of seasons. I guess it keeps things interesting.
