If you like wine, Brotherhood is the country's oldest winery: http://www.brotherhood-winery.com/
Rhinebeck is a great place to stop. When I lived in Connecticut, I used to go often.
If you go to Fort Ti, you might also want to go a little further North to http://www.ausablechasm.com/
And if you go that far North and have some time, this would be another great opportunity taking the Ferry to Vermont. (Burlington underground shopping) http://www.ferries.com/crossing-sche...ort-kent-ferry
The Port Kent ferry is just a couple of miles down the road from Ausable Chasm. It should be a great crossing that time of year.
