So is this lens on your Christmas list for Santa to bring you?

Wow, outstanding stuff Lainey. Can you help me with my oil painting? I love "drama" in pictures!

Thanks, Dave. I think I do better behind the lens, than I could ever do with painting....so I guess I can't help you.

These pictures are cropped, but between the better lens and the new camera, the resolution is still pretty good.

I've caught the "lens bug". I was also going to check into a 150-600 lens but I happened upon a guy with one today. I asked if I could hold it. I would love even more "reach" when taking pics, but the fact is I often walk about with my camera and the other lens was just too darn big. I also don't care to tote a tripod around. I can hand hold the 100-400. I rented it from a former NE S2000 guy and the lens is for sale. I think it has a new home. Price is reasonable. Decent savings over new.

Instead of a tripod... get a monopod....

That is what my brother-in-law uses when he and my sister go out birding..... works great, doesn't weigh that much, and really helps with stability for those far away shots.

Thanks, Mike. Depending on how I do with this lens over the weekend, a monopod could be in the future. I think I'd need one more if I were to purchase the other lens 150-600 vs the 100-400.

I like the ProMaster XC525 tripod. It is very light and compact plus it can be converted into a monopod. It is always in the car!

I'll check it out, thanks! Hope I don't end up in "camera equipment divorce court."

What's your zoom lens in your camera bag, Dave?

70-200 F/2.8

I occasionally use it with a 2X extender.

Lainey, where did you rent your lens from?

How do those extenders work?

A NE car pal had purchased some extra lenses a few years ago to rent out. Not sure how well he did, but he's not dealing with much of that these days, so he was willing to sell. I also bought a 50mm 1.4 off him a while ago. I think he also has a wide angle for sale..........

You can also rent lenses and camera equipment here: Borrow lenses
