Do you feed only sunflower seeds, Dave?

I have one feeder that gets sunflower seeds but I also toss in a bit of a mix of seeds with nuts and fruit. It's a popular attraction. Expensive stuff compared to sunflower seeds so it's just a bit of a treat mixed in. The last seed I picked up has sunflower, safflower and some of the striped sunflower seed, we'll see how it goes. I generally don't buy those types of mixes, but my birds seem to like the safflower seeds too, and I often mix some in with the sunflower seeds anyway.

We've never done nuts, fruits, or safflower. No need, as I mentioned before we go through 50 pounds of sunflower seeds a week as business picks up. Just sunflower, thistle, and pecker cakes.

Really surprised to see 10 red winged blackbirds in the back yard yesterday..... a couple of them stayed around all day.

Was at my daughters today, and Kathy and I had the pleasure of seeing a mature bald eagle go flying by at about 50 feet up!

Very cool, Mike.

An eagle was spotted the other week in one of the two spots I head to when I hope to grab a few pics of the egrets. I had been there earlier in the day. Spotted an osprey, but no eagle.

Grabbed a shot of a gold finch too.

Lainey, your photographs always make me think about taking up photography. They are just lovely. You have a real eye for what to photograph.

Thanks! I do enjoy the hobby, nature presents opportunity for photos for me. These pics displayed on the large size.... Grabbed them from face book..didn't know they would not re-size.

Might we see you at Spring Fling next year? It's been too long!

I want one of those! I truly think one great close up is worth a ton of other shots when its people or animals. Distant shots are ok for seascapes and landscapes but for anything else closeups capture it best IMHO.

It's actually slightly less than 4 lbs. but feels heavier once I walk around with it. It's decent glass, and the newer camera allows for cropping without losing too much clarity. I was pretty close to the goldfinch, the osprey, not so much....
