My best to Val and Jim and all others affected. This is supposed to be the worse hurricane ever to hit our shores.

I see a state of emergency has been declared for DC. I assume due to potential flooding. The Potomac is already pretty high from all the rain we have had the past week. And some roads have been closed due to high water.

I'm also very concerned about the town of Kinston NC where I grew up. Could be very serious flooding there from the Neuse River. New Bern, where my niece lives, is on two rivers, the Neuse and Trent. Gonna be bad.

As an unemotional geek I see all of the potential for incredible disaster here.
There are a multitude of bad scenarios that play out in my head.
heaven forbid this gets to the coast and just stalls there dumping feet of rain into the mountains of NC and Virginia.

I do have am empathetic side which keeps some of enthusiasm in check.
sadly I have a good imagination for this sort of thing.

Well, it was a rough trip, but Val, Jim and her daughter made it to Lynchburg last night. One positive note. There were some indications that Flo might move inland in a more westerly direction rather than northerly. If so, that would not be good news for the Dragon.

Hmmm...the possible storm tracks seem to be trending more toward the south, which is quite a big change. See what happens...impact for the DC area has been reduced.
