Beef barley was yummy. Made chicken and sausage (Andouille) gumbo today. It is even more yummy!

I'm still having fun with my kamado.

This was once a corned beef, now it's a pastrami. (buttermilk, coriander, black pepper, garlic)

this is a breakfast fattie (sausage, scrambled eggs, hash browns, canadian bacon, 3 cheeses)

A smoked meatloaf with stilton cheese and marinated portobellos

I really like this grill.

How much longer do you plan to use that grill? But it all looks really good.

Been using it a couple times a week. A lady that works for me is a bbq queen. She owned a couple of the best bbq restaurants around here. I've learned lots of bbq tricks from her.

This weekend it's slow smoked Cuban pork roast.

Best part is I'm now 195# of raging fury compared to a 250# couch potato at the beginning of the Summer.

This has been an incredible year for me in many ways and I'm enjoying every second of it.

Happy New Year MsPerky!

Thanks! That was a bit of a joke, as in some of the stuff you are cooking on there might shorten your lifespan. But you lost all that weight in six months? Very good. So I guess you have offset the risk factor of the food with your weight loss.

I really miss the lack of a good Cuban restaurant here in DC/Northern VA. We had one some time ago that was wonderful, but it closed. We have every other food you can think of here but that. I need to get my fix by going back to KW and eating at El Siboney!!

Also missing my brisket from Austin TX, but will get some good stuff in Houston mid Jan when we visit Jim and Chris. Jim says he knows all the places. Yippee!

for this yummy thread. I finally went through my mother's recipe book and found some of my favorites of hers. I'm going to make all of them at some point.

Crème Caramel (her version had a much lighter custard than usual)

Cranberry Salad (cranberries, pecans, apple, raspberry Jello)

Ozark Pudding (similar to pecan pie but crunchy)

Pineapple Cake (yellow cake, pineapple, Cool Whip, instant vanilla pudding)

California Casserole (the one I mentioned in her obituary - cube steak in gravy with poppy seed dumplings on top)

Bouille (my dad's favorite - a Cajun dessert and very rich)

Spoon Bread

I'm getting better and better with my kamado. Smoking renders fat you know. Look at the fat content in jerky for example.

Here's my latest. Notice I've gone scientific with dual remote temp probes.

The ones I like I shoot a pic of and write the recipe

The food you're cooking looks delightful, Flts. I've always wanted a kamado grill. With a little more inspiration from seeing your tasty delights I may have to get one.

It's fun Valentine. We use it all the time. Made a big difference in what we eat and how we cook. Crunchy asparagus is incredible. We got ours at Costco. Kamado Joe. Lots of stuff online about using them.

Can't say enough good things.
