I think things have been going down hill since the baby boomers. However, the rate at which we are becoming a nation of lazy SOBs is increasing. I think SEVERAL factors are to blame..
(1) parents no longer discipline thier kids
(2) The "I'm OK, you're OK mentality". BS! You need to have standards.
(3) Ritalin
(4) parents wanting to be friends and not mentors. The want the kid to like them first and foremost and respect them second. The job of parents is to prepare their kids for life, while loving them and supporting them. This means being tough when it is needed and prepared for the child to be pissed and not like you.

My interactions with the [most] younger generation are painfull, at best. For the most part, they are lazy and entitled. They expect everything to be handed to them and refuse to sacrafice. If its not easy, then it won't be done. "Shoulda, Woulda, Coulda" are used at the begining of their excuses. They refuse to accept personal responsability nor do they see the merrit in working hard to achieve a goal.

* they is used in a general sense

After education, feminism, sex, and religion, I guess entitlements are also fair game. Do NOT get me started on THAT rant.

We discuss quite a few controversial subjects here in Vintage, which is part of what makes it an interesting place to hang out. But I want to reiterate that respect for others' opinions is a requirement for participation in this topic/forum. Attacking the message is fine as long as it is done in a civil manner. Attacking the messenger is not. Please keep that in mind as you continue this discussion. Thanks!

Geez, you sound like old fogies lamenting your lost youth. Personally, aside from the useful technology it developed, the lunar missions didn't do much to make my life any better or my future more bright.
