My investment advisor says it's a great time to buy and is encouraging me to hand over my big state refund I finally got after waiting 5 months.

Dont do anything too hasty just yet. Market is up over 400 as of 9:40 AM and it was up over 400 yesterday. The moves the feds are taking with U.S. and worldwide banks/financial institutions may help to get things back to some normality. Let's hope so.

Well.... you don't get exactly 1/2 the island, it is about 9 square miles- maybe 6000 acres total. I have about 16 people on the "collapse of civilization" bailout list which works out to around 375 acres per person. That should be just about the right amount of space considering how misanthropic everyone I know is. On that note... maybe we'll let Dean have 500 acres.
Cocos Island
I'm in. The I can dive everyday! I'll settle for 10 acres and first dibs on the compressor.

He keeps telling me: "You should be glad that you're not working"
I've been getting that for a while. When the tech market collapsed and all of my friends wound up with jobs paying half as much for twice the amount of work.

My financial advisor works for Smith Barney (part of Citigroup). Haven't asked him if he feels threatened.

What I learned over the years is that financial advisors (especially those who work for brokerage firms or other financial institutions) will always tell you to trade -- whether it is to buy or sell. The reason is that they make their money on the trades, their first priority is their own pocket and not your money. So as long as you trade, they are happy; whether you make money on the trade is your problem.

Here's an interesting tidbit.
if you went on a camping vacation this week with no connection to the outside world and just checked the Dow, it is almost the same as last Friday's close.

I hope people pay attention to what you pointed out. It's a very good point.
