Default Going to the auctions!

Hi everyone. Lately I've been doing some work for a magazine published by one of my car clubs. Later this month, I will be going to Scottsdale to cover the antique and classic car auctions for the magazine. I have to pay my way there of course, but the press credentials get me into the auctions for free. These are the same auctions they televise on Speed TV. I'm pretty excited by this and thought I'd share the news here. Below are the links to the three events I will have time for.

All of this is part of my exploration of life after the law firm. I got to thinking that once I retire, I'll still want to keep busy. Why not try to find something to do in the areas that I enjoy. For me, that is cars and fishing. I'm not sure I'll ever find a way to make a buck writing articles, but the fun is in the journey.

I went to the first Barrett Jackson auction in Las Vegas in 2009. It was fun, especially to see the cars in the back before the auction, up close and personal. The owners were often there to talk to and ask questions of.
You'll have a good time, Bill.

I wonder how much a fully restored 1965 MGB Roadster would go for. Such a beautiful car.

so I quickly scanned the barrett jackson catalog.
I have to say there isn't a lot that got my attention, at least from the standpoint of cars I'd actually want to own.
the MB CL600 and the SL600 and the 360 modena ferrari but not much else.

Son of a Gun...good for you, Bill! I just booked a bargain fare on Southwest (non-stop ) from Philly to/from Phoenix for Feb 1 departure with return on Feb 10. I wanted to go for the auctions, but it didn't fit into our schedule

Kathy is not going this time, but I'm going to spend time in Tucson looking into Real Estate and/or apartments for possible rental for a month in winter 2012....when she will be retired
