Well, I convinced her--one Gaggia super automatic on the way! It was $699 with 20% off (until tonight), except the 20% didn't show on the receipt. I'll have to give them a call tomorrow.

I'm looking forward to a nice cup o' Joe on Christmas morning!

Wow, I've been looking at the Rancilio Sylvia. How's the Gaggia?
I've had the Sylvia for several years now. It's a great machine, especially at its price point.

I also have the Rancilio "Rocky" doserless grinder. It's great!

You need to put in the code (holly something) and then press update. Your price would then reflect a $139+ discount and your price would then be $559+. Not a bad price for a super-auto.

I drink crema coffee in the am and switch off to pure espresso after my first cup of crema. You'll need to tinker with the settings at first to get your cup exactly the way you like it. I believe you'll find that you'll be able to prepare nice coffee beverages that are far superior to those pricey drinks from coffee shops. If you really enjoy the flavor of crema coffee, experimenting with various types of beans is a lot of fun.

One more thing: check out the height of your coffee cups. You may wish to invest in shorter cups. I had smaller coffee cups that worked well with my superauto and have several sets of espresso cups, but I have to admit I panicked for a few minutes when my first machine arrived.

Thanks for the information, Val. I put the "Holly20" code in, but didn't see the update button. I'm sure it will get worked out.

I'm really looking forward to getting the unit. It's somewhat humorous to admit to an addiction on a public forum--the coffee monkey has been on my back for quite some time.

I did notice when trolling around the web that one website said that the Gaggia unit actually has Saeco internals. Interesting. The only Saeco unit with similar features & benefits is $999 (on sale), so I'm not complaining.

YVW, Cordy. Funny you said that thing about admitting your addiction. Just this morning I was thinking about the new machine and realizing my excitement about its coming and thought to myself, OMG I'm an addict!!! There could be much worse addictions, though. Coffee is a very powerful antioxidant.
The Logic has the same brewgroup (and maybe the same boilers, but I'm not sure) as the Gaggia Titanium which is more expensive. I considered the Titanium, but decided I'd go with the less expensive Logic which will be more than adequate for my needs. I hope you enjoy the machine and I hope the dice rolls so that you'll get a good one. Every now and then the factory rolls out a dud. I'm supremely happy with the performance of my previous one and I'm hoping the next one is at least as good.

Thanks again for the heads up Val. I've had a smile on my face since ordering.

Got a notice from UPS that my machine has been shipped. It should arrive late tomorrow evening. Hope I can get it set up and use it Thursday morning. I am giddy with excitement.
