YAY. Good for you!!! The Platinum is a super nice machine. I truly hope you enjoy yours as much as I do mine. Jim marvels at my madness, but says he has no problem with the amount of $$ I've spent on espresso machines since I obviously enjoy them every single day. I believe the boilers and brew group on my machine are the same ones used in the Platinum, but my machine is wider looking. In any event its my second Gaggia and I have no complaints yet.

I talked to the guy at WWL and he was very complimentary of the Gaggia.
Along with your glowing recommendation, I decided it was time.

It got here Tuesday evening and after reading the book (yep I really did).
I finally had an opportunity to make my first Cap today, oooooooooo. This might be a bad thing, Cappuccino on demand.

Now, what coffee do you use. I had coffee come with it, but I really didn't like it. I went to a local roaster that has a coffee shop that I go to from time to time and bought their espresso blend. A little pricey, but really good.

Uh oh . . . you're in realllllly big trouble now. I've tried several types of coffees and really enjoy the medium roast a lot better than the dark roast (most espresso blends are dark roasted and overdone imho). Sam's Club sells 2.5 pound bags of Marques de Paiva beans very reasonably and surprisingly the flavor is good. They are organic and the medium roasted bean is quite good. If you're making cappuccino, you may enjoy this brand and it won't cost an arm and a leg. There is a little market in my neighborhood that carries locally roasted beans that are my preferred brand, but the cost becomes difficult to justify (except when I'm desperate).
