Have you ever played Butter Valley? Back in the 90's and early 00's, when I owned an airplane, we used to fly up there occasonally for our "$100 Sunday morning breakfast" at their restaurant on site, even though I didn't golf. The grass runway went right through the middle of the course and sometimes an errant ball would cause some excitement when landing or taking off! I really, really miss flying to places like this. Unfortunately, we sold the airplane in 2007 and subsequently I lost my physical. Still have my license, though!

I have not gene. There was a course called miry run in robbinsvillr nj with a small airport nearby. We used to play in a league there. I didn’t play one night but a small airplane missed the runway and landed on one of the fairways.

Gary, that's a lot of balls. Although I was in corporate management my entire career I am one of a very, very small handful of corporate people who can say they never played a single day of golf. Every person I worked with, male or female, was in one or more leagues. I did play miniature golf with my kids; not the same, I suspect.

a few quick thoughts Gary.
it would be interesting to put a dot or something under balls for courses that don't exist anymore.

I don't see a ball form Augusta National. Someday I'll get around to framing our tickets from the Masters.
I only have a 49 ball rack which is about 70% full. These are from courses I've played.
My beloved brought me back a sleeve of balls from the old course but since I never played it, it's not in the case.
I've been tempted to put together a pencils rack.

On the topic of writing instruments, I've added to my fledgling fountain pen collection.

Dave- Good for you. You've probably saved 1000s of hours, and put that to good use towards your other hobbies and kids. I love mini golf when family is in town btw. I suspect that if I had kids, golf would be high on the list to cut back strictly because of the time required. Our league that wasmade up mostly from the IT staff at work at one point was about 24 2 person teams. The VP played so everyone joined to get face time. We have people that still play (he doesn't, he's long retired), who have a 25 handicap for 9 holes after 20 years! It's brutal playing against someone who is going to shoot a 65 on a good day. Take 5 practice swings, hit the ball 10 yards. Huff and puff, look around, take 5 more practice swings. Hit the f'in ball and move on... and by move on - I mean - find a new hobby!

Gerry- No Augusta. My spreadsheet has some other info marked. It's tough to know if its closed if you went there 20 years ago and it has since shut down. How often do you check them all? Local ones, easy, ones not local, not worth it. Everything in the display I've played. I started with a 36, then a 72, then a 108, then a 2nd 108. My OCD kicks in sometimes, I hope I can find another of the same 108 soon. I was looking for something different as well, maybe custom to hold them. Something informal (but not a big jug) - that showed off the logos but allowed them to take up less space.

I have a variety of pencils too, bag tags, etc... They just sit in a box or in my bag.

Gary I don't have a golf ball collection but I do have 77 metal dash plaques from car meets. And too many shot glasses to count.

I have no collections. I do have a ton of pics in my PC that I compare to a stamp collection, they are just "there." At least I don't have to dust my collection.

I’ve never played golf. I have a 27 hole championship golf course that hosted 6 LPGA events about 5 minutes from my house. When I worked at the resort they used to have employee fun days were you could choose between playing golf or going out on the lake in a kayak or a canoe I always choose the lake.

I played a few times plus a couple of times at a driving range. So I thoroughly suck at golf A coworker talked 2 of us into going with him since we got him hooked on disc golf. And there was a company golf outing coming up so we went to the range with him and played a couple of rounds to "learn". Then we played the work outing round which was scramble. Rule was you had to at least use one shot from each player on the team per hole, so basically he carried the rest for our team!

It is a very fun game that I could really get into, but I do not have room for hat hobby along with the others!
