Jerry

I don't recall if we met at a FC or the Mystic Nor'easter.

it says halfway for you and me is around Bridgeport, CT. There’s got to be courses near there for an overnight, 2 round trip. I’ll bring doug!

I enjoy making pizzas, it is a hobby for me, plus the family eats it up and everyone gets their own personal pizza to their liking. I have been slowly upgrading my pizza ovens as I get into it more.

I always buy myself a Christmas present before I buy presents for others, so this year I ordered a new pizza oven. It should be fun, and I can't wait to use it. I've had other Gozney ovens in smaller size, but this size seems perfect, and the new digital temp gauge looks great and is really helpful to have. The Gozney black friday sale is too good to pass up, and they have free shipping too.

So, I did a little research. One of the common points made in a few reviews I saw was that LEGO seems to refuse to move away from the "blue" pins used to connect pieces. Other companies (CADA/Brickzone were two I looked at) make kit colored pins where they are visible so the match the rest of the visible parts.

I have the little wood one to make - I'd estimate two days tops... I'm considering one of the Brickzone ones.

My wife obviously wants me to spend more time in the basement…

Got the sailboat built over Xmas. Hoping to get another built this week.

Let me know how the boats go.

I stopped into a local hobby shop a few weeks ago. I hadn't been there in years (one of the brothers who owned it passed away, and they sold the building to a developer then moved 10 miles away to a smaller location in a strip mall).

He said boats are always the toughest to do. I was considering a traditional model, but for even the simplest $25 car model, I'd need $50 in paint. lol. So unless I'm really going to dive in, that didn't seem right. I figure the boat has way more detail, rigging, etc... to both keep me busy, interested and invested in doing it.

I suppose at some point, when I can dedicate some more space to a hobby area, building a collection of tools, paints, etc... makes more sense.

Enjoy Sam

Realizing now there's 2 sailboats in the picture. I built the Americas cup one (top left) Emirates New Zealand yacht. Definitely on the technical side, not as "easy" and fun as others but still neat. Might tackle the Endurance boat next but not certain. Love the story behind that boat & expedition.

Sam, I need images not sideways. I want to slap people who post car photos at an angle. It doesn't make it cool.

I would love to build the Lunar Rover but I don't have room to display it.

That model looks remarkably like some of my early efforts at making polystyrene models way back when.
The only thing it's missing are the massive blobs of glue.
