I disagree. I like it. It doesn't look too much different than the Warsteiner Merc that holds up my Mac. My mother bought it for me.

yeah wow, more than a quarter century ago.

To get speed they dialed down the downforce to reduce drag.
Another car's wake could get under the nose resulting in lift and once it started there was nothing to stop it until it stalled aerodynamically.
At that point moment of inertia would take over resulting in the vertical spin.

Thankfully for all involved, this drama unfolded next to a wooded area and not next to stands or a heavily fan populated area.

There were 2 incidents of the flying Mercs, Mark Webber was in the other one. He talked about it a bit when he was on Top Gear years ago.
