These storms amaze me. As far removed as we are here it's very breezy and the air has a tropical feel to it. The clouds also have that unmistakeable look to them and are heading off to the northeast very rapidly.
I knew that if there was a way to get word out that they were okay, ol' Tex would find it. Thanks for taking a load off my mind as I was worried about you and your family. Have any other Texans in harm's way checked in? Can't imagine an entire city in the dark for long. Glad you're leaving soon, or is that still on?
That was real cute, your "limi", you're a funny guy even in the midst of the storm.
Leftovers from Ike hit us yesterday evening with wind gusts over 60 mph. My neighbor's tree didn't fare too well:
Narrowly missed the house. Seemed to take down their power line, but they had lights on all night, so I guess it only stretched them On our side (house to the right), only the phone line was stretched, but not disconnected. We have phone service now through our cable carrier, so I don't know if I should call the phone company about it or not.
The roots were not at all deep:
Or neighbor across the street came to warn us about 10 mintes before the tree came down - they could see it rocking and pulling up the rocks around the base. Virginija and Anika were across the street watching when it came down - I was in the basement shutting down the network server in case the tree took out our power.

It was a wild night. I can't even imagine what it would be like in Texas
I can't imagine what it will be like if the real heat comes back with no electricity. I think it cooled off a bit after the storm.
How do you guys feel about the folks under mandatory evacuation who didn't leave? I had a problem with them calling 911 at the last minute when it was too dangerous for anyone to come and get them.
