QUOTE]The Cosworth V8 changed all that as they dominated for awhile starting in the mid 60's.[/QUOTE]

Actually the Cosworth did not appear until the late '70's, when Parnelli Jones and Vel Melitich developed a turbo version of the Ford Cosworth DFV Formula One V-8 as the Cosworth DFX. The Ford engine referred to above was the dohc version of the small block Fairlane first run with pushrods and Weber carbs in 1963 by Team Lotus. As an injected dohc it first won in 1965 (Jim Clark) and later was turbocharged in the '70's when the manufacuring rights went to A.J Foyt and it was raced as a "Foyt".

The Novi raced for years from I believe perhaps the Forties but it was not associated with STP and the Granatellis until (as I recall) 1963. Jim Hurtibise led the first lap in 1963 in the Novi before giving up to eventual winner Parnelli Jones. In 1964 Bobby Unser did his rookie run in one but was involved in the horrific 2nd lap crash which killed Eddie Sachs and Dave MacDonald. I think the Novi was named for Novi Michigan which took its name from being the 6th stop (no. VI) on a railroad line.

Oh yeah I knew the answer to the "all Offy" question but got into the thread too late to amaze you all. But here is a trivia question for you... in 1962 there were 32 Offies and one what else?????[
