The Phila Inquirer today has a complete section of 11 'What If...' essays .....presenting all sides of the related Iraq dilemma. Very interesting reading.... take a look
For me, the answer is NO....I do not feel any safer. IMHO, the Federal gov't must get better at national issues (like security) and keep their friggin noses out of issues that can be better handled by the States.
Of course, not many people would agree on which issues belong in which column Ain't democracy great? There are some advantages to a Benevolent Dictatorship

No, I do not feel safer. On the contrary, I think the issue of terrorism has become so politicized and exploited that any action that's been taken toward resolving the issue is meaningless, except to fulfill other agendas. I doubt that the situation will improve in my, or even my childrens' lifetime.
I also feel worse off now than I did four years ago. There is a growing sense of disenchantment and dissatisfaction within the country. Whether those feelings are justified or not is irrelevant; the effects on the economy, political and social climate, etc. are all still very real nonetheless. I share your uncertainty, along with millions of others, and I see no hope of it being alleviated any time soon.
