I've got to get a new top for Betty
I got home from work yesterday and put the top up. When I got out of the car I noticed a narrow slit about 1.5" long in the top along the rail that runs along the door on the driver's side. Further inspection revealed several other areas where the fabric is very weak and will probably tear in short order.
So now I'm looking at replacing the soft top which begs some questions.
OEM top with plastic window?
OEM with glass window?
Aftermarket with plastic window?
Aftermarket with glass window?
Black top or something more unique for the S?
After a bit of Goog time I found this:

I've always liked the look of tan on black but I really like the idea of one of the greys, particularly the pepper. I'm leaning toward aftermarket both for the color choices and to get canvas instead of vinyl.
Opinions, advice, and experiences requested and welcomed.

I'd stick with a black top. Most convertible tops that I see, other than black, just don't seem to look as good down the line.
And I think the glass window would be high on the list of "must haves."

For the Berlina, I'd go with the black top with glass window.
If you had a Suzuka, I think the blue OEM vinyl top would look sharp. Funny, even though it is offered as an option, I have never seen a blue top.

Also, if you do not have the hardtop, you want to look into the 2000 - 2001 HT Kit, part of that kit is the wiring and switch for the center console so you can get power to the defrost unit in the glass rear window.

I'd also vote for the black with glass. Canvas, especially tan, would stain easily from what i've seen.
But, your opinion is the most important one. 600-1000 is a lot of money, spend it the way you want to.
Or, buy the hardtop and leave it off all summer.
