I have always been a fan of smaller displacement engines. I just made more sense to me than larger displacement engines poluting larger amounts of air at even idle speeds.

I guess one could make the argument about displacement versus RPM?

But I was VERY pleasd with the results of emissions test of our S2000, knowing that it runs SO clean.
You are so right. We tend to focus on S2000 performance and forget the excellent emissions engineering.

Environmental concerns have been important to me personally since we started to become aware of the issues in the 60's.

And four bangers have always been the most fun. My first sports car was a 64 S-600, followed by a 68 (I think) Corvair Monza Spyder, the Corona, and including a 78 Toyota Celica GT that would never die. It had been too long since I had a performance two seater, and it is really great to be back in one.

Sometimes bigger isn't better.

It may not be an American way of thinking, but it's true. I've owned 4s, 6s, and 8s. I love the 4s for their efficiency (the S2000 engine is a marvel), and small cars are my favorites.

Given the price of gas, this will become a much more popular point of view.

Chaz,

As a matter of fact you comment is on point.

We have an S2000, two Civics and an Acura TL TypeS. The S and the two Civics have 4 cylinder engines while the TL has a six. The S and the two Civics are a lot of fun to drive, while the TL feels way to big and heavy.

The TL is powerful, but not nearly as much fun to drive as the others.

I am on the verge of trading the TL in on something smaller, like an RSX-s. I too prefer small cars with small engines.

This is the results of my emissions test back in April. Note the readings for all of the readings!

Limit Reading Result Limit Reading Result
HC PPM 92 1 Pass 89 11 Pass
CO % 0.52 0.00 Pass 0.50 0.00 Pass
NO PPM 756 0 Pass 684 0.00 Pass

thank you Honda.

The table got scewed? but if one reads across from left to right and follows the headings it "could make sense".

Does that say 0ppm for NOx? Obviously an error. It's vaguely possible (but superunlikely) that CO could be low enough to not register, but there is no way not to make NOx.

I'm getting my emission check shortly - I'll let you know what it shows, if I remember.

I'm waiting to test one. They should be here in late October to early November.

Interesting... I have to say that owning a Ferrari Modena or perhaps even the new Z06 'Vette would indeed be really fun! It's just that, on the whole, I'll stick with the smaller, more efficient vehicle every time.

BTW, the new Z06 gets pretty much the same mileage as our wonderful S. I find that truly astonishing.
