I like almost all those things that go into juicing, but I prefer to eat them au naturale. It's hard to down as much each day as you can get by juicing, but I'm stuck on that 40 year old learned data that your body will and can only absorb as much of those essential vitamins, minerals and other good stuff as it requires. And, you'd be surprised as to how small those requirements really are. However, I do believe that people actually feel better when they are investing in a healthy diet. For me, it's still basically everything in moderation. None of this applies if there are underlying medical reasons for a reasonable period of binging on the essentials. IMHO

I'm don't drink large quantities of any beverage. I should drink more water. A small glass of juice, and a small glass of skim milk at breakfast. Some diet soda during the day and evening.....I'd find it hard to drink fruit smoothies, veggie blends or any of that type of thing, if I were trying to supplement my diet.

We do try to eat well. Some days are better than others. As Val mentioned in another post, it's not easy to eat healthy. It takes a lot of discipline especially when there is so much bad, but tasty food around everywhere you go. We TRY to eat the bad stuff in moderation. I've had plenty of servings of veggies today, some fruit, some fish, some shrimp. A pretty good healthy food day until we stopped for a drink while mapping out a drive. For some reason a cheese spinach artichoke dip sounded good as a snack.

Val, I'm sorry to hear you are feeling under the weather. I thought if you were anemic you need iron?

I've never been convinced that doctors really understand all that much about foods. My mother was a bit of a health nut and followed good eating habits as long as I can remember. I was and am just the opposite. I seldom eat vegy's, never eat fresh fruit, hate milk, etc. I love and eat all the stuff everyone says is bad like bread, any crunchy/salty junk food I can find., etc. I pay no attention to the do's and don'ts when it comes to doctor's advice. If it tastes good and agrees with me, I eat it and if it doesn't I don't eat it.

I do take a multi-vitamin daily.

My friend has pernicious anemia as well. She's on the B12 shots and has been for years. If that's the diagnosis, down the line, can you discontinue the shots if the diet is changed?
