Lets have a Pro tour guide
Once again....I really wish Sharon & I were going on this.... We have studied this engagement for over 10 years now..... Besides the "S", the Civil War has become our passion.... Our home is filled with a library of the events from pre 1861....thru 1865.... Reasons, thoughts, personal lives, Northern issues, Southern issues....if you can think of it, we have info on it... There are far too many issues and reasons that the War between the States took place, to comprehend. People have spent their entire lives studying it....As you drive the the twisties around and through the battlfield...remember that you are at one of the most sacred places in America. As for time to take a guided tour.....May I suggest the bus tour. They are located @ the "Y" intersection, next to the Holiday Inn.Be sure to take the one with the Licensed battlefield guide. The cost is around $30. bucks per person. The tour will last 2.5 to 3 hours. The coach is airconditioned, and very nice. The guide will take you to all the key points in the area, you will get out and they will explain the key points, as to who, why, where and when. The guides go thru a battery of tests prior to getting their license, so they are quite well educated with regard to their knowledge of the events leading up to, and the Gettysburg campaign...the best $30 bucks you will spend.
Hope I have not "Jacked" the thread...!! You are going to a place that is "Very" close to my heart....
One more thing....Have Jerry take you to the top of "Little Round Top" @ sunset.....It will most likely bring a tear to your eye.....

I have an e-mail into the folks at the Army War College that did the staff ride tour that I went on. I will let you know if it is possible to hire someone.
My guess is that you will need about 20 people to make this cost effective. It takes about 5 or 6 hours to complete the tour. I'm a bit worried that scheduling something like this on the day everyone is heading home is not workable.

As Bill mentioned, Friday may be a possibility too.
