No one has mentioned the mid 60's mopars yet. Reliable for their time, rides like a boat on calm water, good power, gobs of beautiful chrome inside and out. Available at decent prices if you don't have to own a show winner.
64, 65 and 66 roadrunners, dodge chargers, etc.

Of course there's also the Mustangs, pretty, decent handling and all of the above.
(slightly rougher ride) My favorites are 67, 68 and 70.

As long as we're having some fun here goes.

Here is the car that you need.

1972 Oldsmobile Vista Cruiser

A 1972 Oldsmobile Vista Cruiser. It satisfies your every requirement, and more. Think of the possibilites. You could drive it to your annual MG club meets with the MG riding safely inside behind the seats, while you and the Mrs. enjoy the comfort of driving a sofa on wheels.

When not transporting the MG, you can probably fit everything you own, have ever owned and will ever own safely inside and still have room for the two of you.

Imagine heading to the next Spring Fling with your S2000 tucked in safely behind the seats in the baggage compartment. You'd only have to wash the S before you left, it would stay safe and clean inside the Vista Cruiser for the whole trip.

No more struggling to fit things in for the weekend, the car is big enough to carry all of your clothes and everything else you own. No more being intimidated by big SUVs and trucks. No more worries about speeding tickets, the cops won't believe anything this big and clumsy could go that fast.

No more worring about hotel vacancies. The Vista Cruiser is bigger than most of the hotels you'd stay in anyway.

The car is a distinct shade of yellow, guaranteed to turn heads, and has everything you could want: Automatic Transmission and a 455 C.I. block. Only 200,000 miles and only $16,000. Quite the bargain.

Don't let this one slip by.

I had a '68 Buick Sport Wagon, which was the equivalent.

You are right about no hotel. I used to take it camping by putting a mattress in the back. Watching the stars through the windows in the roof was an added bonus.

Rob, in the late 60's or early 70's, Car and Driver magazine did a "Boss Wagon" feature where they hopped up a Vista Cruiser.

Dave, how about a "sedan delivery" ("panel truck") or maybe a Chevy Nomad. Distinctive, cool, and could meet your other requirements.

Where are they located? I can't get the location links to work. That '56 Olds Super 88 looks interesting.
