Extra innings again..the tension is too much! Hey Ralper, you were at City during those turbulent years?

Quite a list of cars - until marriage (practical). Does your spouse appreciate the 'S'? Did you wait until the 'S' came along or was it just timing? A long time for the latent roadster flame to burn!

It was a lot of fun being a college student in those years, especially in New York City. The colleges of the City University didn't experience anywhere near the turbulence and tumult of universities like Columbia and NYU. Still, it was an exciting time.

Out of a need to keep it running, I started to take as much care of my MG as my limited skills would allow. Remarkably, when I sold the TD, that whole side of me went to sleep. When I bought the S it woke up again. I'm having as much fun doing some minor tinkering as I did way back when.

I'd been wanting to buy another roadster for while. I was going to buy another (this time restored) TD but decided that I'd be afraid to use it so it wouldn't be practical. Then I thought about the Miata and I was almost ready to buy when the S came out. I'd been so happy with all of the Hondas that we owned I didn't need to look any further. I kept putting it off until one day in August 2002 when E.W.A. and I saw the Sebring come off the truck on a Saturday morning. We'd been at the dealer a few weeks earlier looking at the S and another Accord. Two hours later, I bought it. I think a lot of things came together. The timing was right and the fact that it is a Honda sealed the deal.

E.W.A. has no feeling toward it one way or the other except she's delighted at how my younger son and I have taken to it. We always spent a lot of time together, but now we're inseparable when its time for the S.

Love affair with cars (especially sports cars) started when I was in elementary school -- we walked about a mile or two every day and passed through the parking lot (short cut) of the local dealer who sold British sports cars (mgs, austin-healeys). I used to go in every day and admire them -- loved them ever since.

I guess it began when I was about 7 and recall seeing a 57 Chevy Bel Aire. To me it was the most beautiful car ever made. I used to ride the school bus home and would pass by one and marvel at the graceful lines of that car. Then I started helping dad in the garage working on cars. At ten I rebuilt my first engine with lots of help from dad. I went on to own a two 57 Bel Aires.

Muscle cars have been a staple in my drive way since I was old enough to drive. 3 Javelins, 1 AMX, 72 Chevelle, 72 Lemans, 2 68 Mustangs, 4 Camaros, 1 Trans Am and many others.

Hey Javelin (remember the ads?):
Quite a list of muscle cars - as a teen I was obsessed w/ Trans Ams before they became neutered in the mid 70's. The limited 68 / 69 303, 71-73 455HO were my favorites. By the time Smokey & the Bandit came out...well, those were the Dark Ages (IMHO) until a resurgence in the 90's.
Did your Chevelle have the ladder bars, Cragers, etc?
