I have a detailing business and use a product called Bugs Away. Spray on wait 5 minutes and the bugs wash right off. For tough stuff like bug guts use the sponge with the perforated holes like they have on the service station windshield cleaner. You can buy them at at any local auto supply store.

This Love Bug business took me by surprise last year when I encountered it: although I'd heard stories, I had no idea how bad it could be.

Out west in the spring, there are what we call "hatches" of various species of mayflies, stoneflies, and so on. When you're driving along and you encounter one of these hatches, what you do is stop and go fishing, right then and there -- the hatches make the trout go nuts.

But it's hard for me to believe that any self-respecting fish -- even the trashy, South Florida fish we have around here -- would want to eat Love Bugs. Ugh. HPH

Hopefully you already have a fresh coat of wax on your car first, if not, wax it.

It's not so hard cleaning the dead bugs off of your car after a drive, it's just more difficult if you let them sit for a couple/few days.

I just carry a bottle of spray detailer & some towels.

Oh--and don't be the lead car in the pack

Wax, detailer spray....Wax, detailer spray............Thankfully they only swarm twice a year here in FL.

Thanks Guys, got home around midnight and got it washed the following afternoon. Not too bad. Year old Zaino is still pretty slick.

Honda brand cleaner. Find it in Honda motorcycle shops. Works on those baked and week old ones too. Dare I say that WD 40 works well too?
